Doku’s own license
Doku and the Doku Core plugin are both licensed GPL-2.0-or-later, the same license WordPress itself uses. That covers the code; what you may do with the item as a product is set by the license you chose at checkout on ThemeForest.
Bundled third-party code
Everything listed here ships inside the theme or the plugin and is served from your own domain. Doku makes no external HTTP request on page load — no CDN, no font service, no analytics, no search API. The one request WordPress itself can add is a commenter’s avatar from Gravatar, on posts and pages with comments; turn off Show Avatars under Settings > Discussion to remove it.
| Component | Version | License | What it does in Doku |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lucide | 1.31.0 | ISC | Every icon in the interface. The path data is embedded in main.css, so no icon file is ever downloaded |
| Shiki | 4.0.2 | MIT | Syntax highlighting in the Enhanced Code block. It runs in the editor only — readers are served markup that is already highlighted |
| FlexSearch.js | 0.8.214 | Apache-2.0 | The search index. Loaded the first time a reader opens search, not on page load |
| KaTeX | 0.16.47 | MIT | Math formulas imported from GitBook. Loaded only on pages that contain one |
| Mermaid | 11.15.0 | MIT | Diagram rendering. Loaded only on pages holding a diagram that is not already pre-rendered |
| Font Awesome Free | 7.2.0 | Icons CC BY 4.0, fonts SIL OFL 1.1, code MIT | Icons inside content imported from GitBook. Loaded only on pages that use one. Doku’s own interface never uses it |
| TGM Plugin Activation | 2.6.1 | GPL-2.0-or-later | The admin notice that installs and updates Doku Core |
Libraries inside Shiki and Mermaid
Shiki and Mermaid are built from smaller open-source packages, which ship inside Doku Core’s editor scripts and the theme’s copy of Mermaid. The main ones are D3, Cytoscape.js, dagre-d3-es, Rough.js, DOMPurify, Marked, Day.js, Stylis, and Shiki’s Oniguruma regex engine and bundled grammars and themes.
All of them are MIT or ISC licensed, with these exceptions:
| Package | License |
|---|---|
| d3-array 2, d3-ease, d3-path 1, d3-sankey, d3-shape 1 | BSD-3-Clause |
| DOMPurify | Apache-2.0 (offered as MPL-2.0 or Apache-2.0; Doku takes Apache-2.0) |
| robust-predicates | Unlicense |
The full list, with every package’s version and license text, is in doku-core/THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt. KaTeX’s license is in doku/assets/vendor/katex/LICENSE; the other bundled files carry their license in a header comment.
Fonts
Both faces ship as local .woff2 files in doku/assets/fonts/ and are declared in doku/assets/css/fonts.css. Neither is fetched from Google Fonts.
| Font | Designers | License | Used for |
|---|---|---|---|
| DM Sans | Colophon Foundry, Jonny Pinhorn, Indian Type Foundry | SIL Open Font License 1.1 | Interface text and body copy |
| DM Mono | Colophon Foundry, Jonny Pinhorn | SIL Open Font License 1.1 | Code, keyboard keys and article headings |
Images
Doku ships no photographs, illustrations or icon images of its own beyond the theme screenshot. Every image you see on a Doku site is one you uploaded.
